At 22 degrees below zero, the only way to keep a hole in the ice is to direct the pump directly into the pond. The pump discharge is disconnected from the line to the waterfall and directed, with appropriate fittings, out of the skimmer. In this photo, the flow is encased in a tube of ice.
The cold weather lasted only three days…we’re now in a January thaw. I’ll reconnect the waterfall, and all should be back to “normal”.
