This is Cindy’s photo looking east from the house, near sunset with the full moon rising. We gave each other snowshoes for Christmas and tried them out down through the meadow.
The weather has turned too cold even for snowshoeing, the high today predicted around zero. It was minus 26 degrees at 5 AM.
The cold reminds us of our first few years out on this land, late 70’s – early 80’s, when temps would normally go well below zero around this time of year. One year we had forty below and at least twenty below every night for two weeks.
So despite the general global warming, we’re still in for some cold spells. Some of my acquaintances in the southern part of the country wonder how in the world we put up with this. I wouldn’t have it any other way…four distinct seasons are essential to my well-being.
