I have a love/hate relationship with my desktop computer. It allows an infinite expression of creativity, communication with friends, family and work associates and perhaps most importantly the means for advancing my business. But when the technology goes awry, all assumed functions are disabled and frustration results.
My Dell Vostro 200 Desktop has furthered my goals while adding to my frustration. Ever since purchasing, the computer would randomly reboot, often resulting in loss of work. After numerous sessions on Dell Live Chat, I received a visit from a local technical rep to install new memory in the machine.
Unfortunately this did not solve the reboot problem, so two weeks later another tech rep installed a new power supply and a complete new motherboard. I thought I had it made, but then another random reboot!
Trying hard to retain my composure, I called Dell support instead of logging in to Live Chat…the phone representative was most cordial and thorough…we did numerous, immediate online tests, and then he left me with lots of “homework” type testing to do.
I am doing these tests at present…this post comes from my laptop.
Overall, I am impressed with Dell Computer’s support.
It is very easy, and even fashionable these days, to criticize large corporations – and I have been guilty of doing so. In this instance, I commend heartily the efforts of this company’s support.
I’ll follow up with the outcome of this issue.
