One last day of garden work
November 23rd, 2004 DanSunday was perhaps the last day of real garden work until next spring. I dug through an inch and a half of frozen soil to enrich the asparagus bed with compost, dolomite lime and organic vegetable fertilizer. I’ll be able to order the asparagus crowns to arrive fairly early now that the soil is just about ready for them.
My neighbor John thought it odd to be out working in such cold weather, but I actually worked up a sweat. The next shoveling I do will be snow…a light dusting this morning - enough to make the roads treacherous.
