Yes. In the video I was starting onions, which can grow a
deep root before transplanting to the garden…thus the deep
planting container (five inches). Most other vegetable seeds
can be started in standard flats (about two inches deep).
Best to follow the directions in your seed catalog.

> 2) Can you start more than one seed in a single container?
Certainly, as long as the deep rooted (onions, parsnips,
etc) are in another container.

> 3) Do I have to drill holes at the bottom for drainage?
Absolutely…thanks for bringing this to my attention. I
should have mentioned it in the video. Drill holes approx.
2″ O.C. (two inches apart). My seed starting area is over a
carpeted living area, so I built a shallow tray to hold the
seed starting boxes and lined it with plastic.
